Capacity investment

Compare which capacity to add, and when.

We model investment decisions together with how the infrastructure will be used. Your team can compare alternatives with explicit demand assumptions, costs and operating limits.

Discuss your problem

The decision

Which equipment or facilities to expand, by how much and at which stage.

The data

Existing capacity, investment options, costs, expected demand and operating rules.

What your team receives

Comparable investment and capacity-use alternatives, with their assumptions and constraints.

Example problem: more chargers or a larger power connection.

Adding chargers does not ensure more departures if power or charging windows still limit operations. The model evaluates investment and resource use together. This example explains the approach; it is not an investment recommendation.

Before we start

Is this simulation or optimization?

Simulation evaluates what would happen under an alternative. Optimization searches for alternatives within defined objectives and constraints. The scope may include both, with explicit assumptions.

How is future demand handled?

We define the scenarios and assumptions with your team. Results depend on those assumptions; they are not guaranteed predictions of demand or returns.

Where does BILBO fit?

When an investment depends on how other participants make their own decisions, a bilevel model can represent that relationship. We assess whether that structure fits the problem.

Start with the problem you need to solve.

Tell us what you decide today, which constraints matter and what needs to improve. We can review the scope and available data together.
